Every week or so, I stop by Godon Coffee to have Mr. Godon replenish my coffee supply. He usually has jazz playing softly while he works. His shop has a cozy atmosphere with a variety of knickknacks populating his shelves and tables.
Did you notice the frog?
There's parking for one car, and room for only two or three people to stand in the shop.
This isn’t Starbucks.
Mr. Godon doesn’t seem interested in building a neon sign outside his shop or hawking samples of his wares on the sidewalk. He just seems interested in the art and science of roasting very good coffee.
Mr. Godon’s shop is away from the city center. His sign suggests that it is meant for coffee lovers who know where the shop is, rather than merely interested passersby.
There aren’t many shops like this—places where wares are gently crafted for the pleasure of patrons—but they are out there. If you find one, you’ll know right away.
It will be like stepping from a noisy, hot, uncomfortable place into a pool of cool water.

"Mr. Godon doesn’t seem interested in building a neon sign outside his shop or hawking samples of his wares on the sidewalk. He just seems interested in the art and science of roasting very good coffee." Reminds me of the way some writers show up on Substack. Like you.
